I, like all the other descendants of Ebenezer Still & Susanna Preston, still hold out a hope of finding the parents of Ebenezer. I am wondering if we should be focusing our efforts in the area of Windsor, Berkshire Co, MA where Ebenezer & Susanna were married in 1791. Their first four children were born there. Several men old enough to have been Ebenezer's father fought in the Revolution War from MA. This seems logical to concentrate efforts there.
Possibilities that exist are:
Benjamin, who enlisted at Westfield, 11 July 1780, was described as being 45 years of age, stature 5 ft. 7 in., complexion light.
John, who enlisted at Great Barrington, about 20 miles west of Westfield near the New York border, 20 August 1781, was described as being age 33 years, stature 5 ft. 8 in., complexion red, hair red, occupation laborer.
William, who enlisted from Stockbridge, from 1 January 1777 to 30 December 1779, has no description given. Stockbridge is a village, but no doubt then a Town just north of Great Barrington. (Contributed By Shirley Danielson)
Ebenezer & Susanna moved their family to Wayne Co, NY from MA about 1800. The parents of Ebenezer Still would have been over 50 years old when Ebenezer moved his family to New York (if they were still living).
I understand that a Benjaman Still also appears in Census Records of Massachusetts close to the residence of Ebenezer Still and some of his descendants.
I don't have the expertise to know all the avenues of the records available in Massachusetts and hope others will be able to explore the area round Berkshire County, MA.
Please consider the above dialog as "thinking out loud only".
I descend from:
Ebenezer Still & Susanna Preston
Nelson Still & Electa Cook
Wison W. Still & Ellen Harvey
Edgar Elwood Still & Cloyd Pearl Bailey
Eugene Everett Still & Olive Mae Still
