Wayne Co. wasn't established until 1823. The present county was divided between Ontario and Cayuga counties in 1800 and Ontario and Seneca counties in 1810.

I couldn't find any Thurbers in the area in either the 1800 or 1810 censuses.

An 1800 settler would have been quite early, you might want to contact the Wayne County Historian or the Wayne County Historical Society.
