Hi Doug,

Thanks for writing. I am 99% sure that both Joseph and Catharine (Knapp)Todd, Sr. were buried in Palmyra, Ontario Co. (at the time it was still part of Ontario Co. In 1823 the part of the county that Palmyra was in was renamed Wayne Co.), but they are not listed in any of the Palmyra cemeteries. I am guessing at this point they were buried on their farm. Joseph Sr. died sometime between 1808 and 1810. Catharine died in 1828. I believe she was living with a son named Jonathan Todd at the time of her death.

You are probably right in the supposition that Joseph Todd, Sr. came from Connecticut. However, the Connecticut Todds are pretty well documented and "my" Joseph Todd is not listed with them. I contacted the Orange County Historical Society and they said that almost all of the early Orange County settlers came from Connecticut. But right now Joseph Todd, Sr. is still my brick wall. I've ordered all the Warwick, Palmyra, Ontario County, Wayne County and Orange County microfilms that The LDS Church has. I've found a lot about the family and have pieced together most of their children, but still don't know who Joseph Todd, Sr.'s parents were.

Thanks for your suggestions.
