Wayne County 1950 Durnherr murder help
Posted by: Christopher Brennan (ID *****5027) Date: May 18, 2002 at 20:06:24

My mother had a cousin, Leo Durnherr by name (although everyone called him "Dutch") who met with an untimely end. On April 4, 1950 his body was found in Holland Cove, near Pultneyville. The autopsy revealed a skull fracture, multiple rib fractures and a leg fracture. The coroner determined that he was murdered.

I have been in contact with the Wayne County D.A.'s office, and they informed me that they can't provide any information on how the case was resolved, or even if anyone was charged, because their records are arranged by the name of defendants, not by the name of the deceased.

So I am wondering if anyone has access to Wayne county newspapers for the early 1950s? Can anyone tell me if this case was ever solved, and if so who was charged in the case? I am willing to reimburse for time and expenses. I may be reached at the address below.

Thank you in advance!

Chris Brennan
