Ann,
I don't find any Champion's in Palmyra in any index. However there are 2 in the 1830 Macedon listings. Now Macedon township was taken off Palmyra Township in 1823, so if your Thomas was b 1825 may have still called it Palmyra, or the line could be right thru the farm, as was the case on my grandparents farm!.
On 1830 censu are 2 Champion families:

Edmond G with 1m <5 1m 15-20 1m 20-30 1f 20-30 1f 50-60 this is most likely a young couple with a baby and either his or her mother and younger brother.

Jesse with 1m<5 1m 10-15 1m 30-40 2f <5 1f 5-10 1f 10-15 1f 30-40

The writing on these images (which I viewed) is "fancy" The Edmond could very well be Edward, and Jesse is NOT what I would have come up with--the 1st letter looks very unlike the census takers "J" seen in Jacob, and more like the "I" seen in Isaac on same page. now the "s" looks like an "f" or a "p" so I don't even have a guess to this name!

There is also in Rochester, Monroe Co in Brighton 5th Ward a Thomas J Champion with 1m <5 1m 20-30 1f 20-30

Monroe is next county and Rochester the largest city in that area.

There is an Elizabeth Champion in Arcadia on 1850 cenus she is 19 and living as servent (helper) in Ezra Chadwicks home.

I do not find burials in these towns for Champion family's. There are 4 burials, Wm b 1833, wife Margaret 1837-1885, Julia 1857-1908 in St John's Catholic Cemetery in Clyde and John d 1858 ae 47 in So Sodus.

Also in Clyde in 1886 is Frank running a livery.

Much later in 1929 there is a marriage for a Miss Ethel Champion to Wesley Page both from PA in Port Gibson(near Palmyra)

For a really big challange, there are family files for the Champion family in Palmyra Kings Daughters Free Library but they don't do research, so you will need to find a local to go copy the files, or really beg the staff for copies!

I'm hooked, give me more info! I am at a dead standstill in my family, will be glad to look at yours in this area. When did your Thomas die? Do you know when and where he went from here? Any family names ie several Calvins or Jeramiah's that would help lol

Paula
