I don't know if this will help you, but in the 1883 & 1884 land assessment book, there is a Carpenter & Drake that owns 327 acres (40 of it improved) and a Carpenter & Durland (spelling?) who owned 100 acres (none listed as improved). There is also an Eliza Carpenter who owned a male dog. This is from the land assessment book of Forestburgh for 1883 & 84.
