Jennifer---Joseph C. Porter was in the Neversink/Grahamsville area, and I'm trying to locate any of his descendants. Likewise, the descendants of Abraham and Harriet Porter Osterhout. Between those two families is the solution to my genealogy 'brick wall' concerning my Grandfather Milo Franklin (Porter? Osterhout? Haines?), one of these surnames, born in 1868. He gave the name of Milo Haines when he married in 1895 in Tyler Co., WV. The only sibling (half-sibling?) we heard about was Ellen Porter, b. 1870. Ellen (aka, Ella) went from New York to WV sometime in the 1920-30s. All I know is Milo and Ellen had the same mother, Sarah A. Haines Porter. Thanks for responding, this search has been going on for 25 years. According to the 1870, 1875, 1880 census, Milo was living with the Osterhouts as their 'son'. He was known to say, "I'm my Mother's son" ...and so we have the Haines name.
