John Bryan b. 1809 Sullivan County NY

I am looking for any information on John Bryan, born in 1809 in Sullivan County. He moved to Texas in 1836 and served in the Army of the Republic. According to my grandmother the family name was originally O'Brien at some point. If anyone has any information on the O'Briens who were living in Sullivan County around 1810 and if John Bryan is connected to them please contact me.
