According to the AIS 1840 Census Index, there are five Roberts in Sullivan. Widow Roberts in the Town of Bethel, William Roberts in the Town of Cochecton, William Roberts in the Town of Mamakating and Daniel and Wilton Roberts in the Town of Lumberland. Since Pond Eddy is in the Town of Lumberland, I checked out the two Roberts there for you. Found Daniel with males aged 0-20 in the household. Your Moses would have been about 29 in 1840 so Daniel does not appear to be your man. However, Wilton turned out to be "Widow" Roberts. She has two sons, one aged 15-20 and one aged 20-30 in the household. I think this bears some further research on your part. I also took a quick look at Quinlan's History of Sullivan County and see a Moses Roberts listed as an early settler of Mamakating about the time of the RW. THis was when the county was part of Ulster and that should also be researched.
Good luck in you research.
