I live in Phillipsport, but am not familiar with the name...that is, I don't know of anyone from that family who still lives here (and it's a reeaaallllly tiny place, less than 100 full-time residents!) However, I will ask a couple of the old-timers who have lived here all their lives, and I'll check the cemetary (Poplar Grove Cemetary). Do you know where in Phillipsport he lived.

The thing is, in the early 1900's this was a pretty big town (well, for a place way out here, anyway). It had taken off during the heyday of the D&H Canal, continued on because of the railroad, but sort of died when the railroad left. And a lot of families left too.

Let me know if you have any other info. Meanwhile I'll do some checking for you.
