Hello John,
Thank you for the lookup on the 1870 Federal census for my grt.grt.grandfather Charles F.Cooper. I have the 1850 Federal census page and the 1855 State census page with the family listed. These two census have a column that asks where the person came from before taking residence in Sullivan County. In both these census the Cooper family responded with "MAFS" or Massachusetts. I had believed therefore that Charles Cooper was probably also born in Massachusetts arriving in Sullivan County with his parents about 1815. Further investigation of land records suggests Charles F. Cooper's father was John J. Cooper. I believe I should look at both the 1860 and 1880 for additional information that might help.
I have also wondered if the Cooper's in Fallsburgh township were related to the Cooper's in Bethel Township. Perhaps children of John J. Cooper, a common ancestor.
Again, Thank you very much for the information.
KEN
