I am descendant of Prosper Davis and I have been researching him too, although I haven't learned much. He was the father of Harriet Davis Mosher, my great-great grandmother and the wife of John Mosher. They lived in WAyne County, Pennsylvania and had children by the name of Joseph Mosher (my great-grandfather), Henriette Mosher Roberts, Winifred Mosher Sutliff, Thomas Mosher, Mary Mosher North and Susie Mosher. I don't know Kittie would have been but perhaps one of them. Harriet Davis Mosher had brothers named Nymkoop ("Coop") and George and probably other siblings as well, as you indicate. Prosper Davis, Sr. lived on what is now an impassable and unmarked public road known as "Prosper Davis Road" in the Town of Deerpark, Orange County, on the border with Sullivan County. His estate shows up on old maps and new maps still indicate the road. It takes off from Whitehead Road near Route 42 in Rio (formerly "Quarry Hill") and Prosper is buried in the old cemtery on the east side of Route 42 at the top of the hill. His grave indicates he died in 1888 or so and was quite old. I have the exact dates, but not handy at the moment. The gravestone also indicates a wife (probably his second) who was 60 years or so younger than him by the name of Viola Jacoby Davis. She died in the 1940's. She may have been a Delaware Indian descendant. I'm researching that but most of my Davis inquiries seem to end nowhere. There is also a family legend about being related to Jefferson Davis, but I'm skeptical. Please keep in touch and let's share data. You may want to check Wayne County and Orange County Census records.
