Hi! Summitville is a hamlet in the Town of Mamakating, which is in the southeast corner of Sullivan County. It has a post office (zip code 12781) and was once a port on the D&H Canal which ran from the Pennsylvania coal mines to the Hudson River. Hence the name, Summitville - it was the highest point on the canal from the Delaware River to the Hudson. Currently, Summitville is reached via Route 209, and is only 5 miles east of Route 17 (the Quickway), which is a major artery from New York City to the Catskill Mountains.
