Linda,
Thank you very much for your kind offer. No I have heard nothing on the Vespoor family in the area since posting the request. I know the library in Sayville read the message I sent to them, but I've not heard from them. I also had sent a message to the library in Islip, but did not receive any replies that they had even read the message.
I am not particularly interested in the entire Vespoor family even though any data would be welcome. The members I am most involved with at this time are Marinus Vespoor and Angelia/Angeline Drain Vespoor. On the 1870 census I found Marinus with a supposed wife Ellen F., but doubt that was Angelia.
Information I do know is this. 1. Marinus and Angelia had at least one child, Leonard Marinus Vespoor. I have a good bit of information on him and presume he and his wife Grace are buried in Islip since they were living there trom 1900 thru 1930. THey had several children.
2. Angeline was still living in Sayville as of July 1895/96. This information obtained from the publication of property transfers listed in the Brooklyn Eagle through 1896 at the estate settlement of her mother.
3. They probably had a daughter named Ida H. Vespoor, but since I cannot find this family as an entire unit I only assume this information is correct
4. I can go back one generation before Leonard to his parents and uncles. It appears they all had daughters and that Marinus was the only male child in three different families at that time. Therefore Ida had to at least be his daughter.
5. Angeline was one of the daughter of James Drain and Ellen Bush who resided in Brooklyn. James was my great-grandfather's brother.
I would like to at least find a death date for both Marinus and Angeline if possible and where they may be buried. Naturally any other data is frosting on the cake so to speak.
Again, I cannot thank you enough for your offer and if there is anything I can do for you or others in your area with research in the Virginia or mid-atlantic states please don't hesitate to ask. You can get to me direct at poshea@cox.net
