HICKS family in Steuben County abt. 1811?

One mention of John Hicks in a Steuben County article shows he arrived in 1810...but for how long? I think he might be the father of John R. (Rutson) Hicks b. 1811 in Steuben County, later moved to Ontario County (Canadice). Anyone with any knowledge of the HICKS in this county?
