Notes from the genealogy section of the History of Catharine, NY by Cleaver, pub. 1945:

Martha J. FOOTE was b. July 6, 1848, married "Louis UPDIKE, Lodi [Seneca co.], NY". Martha J. was the daughter of Elias Clarke FOOTE b. Feb. 18, 1825, d. 1894, age 69, who was married to Emily /Emaline TERRYBERRY b. Sept. 13, 1829, d. 1901, age 72. Elias Clarke & Emily resided at Odessa. Their children were Thomas, Martha J., Alice Priscilla, David L., James Asa, Elias Eugene, Mary Eliza, Burr, Elsie Elizabeth (Etta), Frances Lavina and Philip D. - Elias Clarke FOOTE was son of Adam FOOTE.

Lewis UPDIKE was the son of Nelson UPDIKE & wife who came to Schuyler co., NY from Tompkins co., NY in 1841, according to the 1855 census. Nelson settled on the west end of First St. in Odessa, NY, buying the first schoolhouse that had stood on the boulevard near where Paul CODDINGTON resides (c.1945), moved it to First Street. Nelson's first child was Horace UPDIKE, b. in Tompkins county, with the rest born in Schuyler co. - Martha, Lewis, Amelia, Catherine, William, George and Mary.
