Uriah SCHERMERHORN b. 1789, NY and Jeremiah SCHERMEHORN b. 1808, NY

Would like information on Uriah SCHERMERHORN b. 1789, NY. He is listed in the 1830 and 1850 censuses of Otsego Co, NY.

In the 1830 census, he has no children listed with him. In the 1850 census others listed in his hh are Jeremiah b.1808, Hannah b.1820, Uriah J. b.1833, Melvina b.1835, Elisabeth b.1837, John B. b.1839, Melvin b.1847, and Orin P. b.1849.

Jeremiah and Hannah with Melvin and Orin are listed in the 1860 census of Delaware Co, IA and the 1870 census of Floyd Co, IA.

Uriah J and John B. are listed in the 1860 census of Henry Co, IL and the 1870 census of Floyd Co, IA.

From the 1850 census, I am guessing that Jeremiah is the son of Uriah. Melvin and Orin are the sons of Jeremiah and Hannah. The others are probably children of Jeremiah from a first marriage.

Does anyone know anything about this family? Did Uriah have other children? Who is the father of Uriah?

One note of interest: Jeremiah is the correct age to be the son of Jeremiah SCHERMEHORN and Annatje OSTRANDER. This is listed on page 89 in the “Schermerhorn Genealogy and Family Chronicles” by Richard Schermerhorn, JR written in 1914. If they are his parents then why would he be in the hh of Uriah Schermerhorn in 1850?
