Broome County is in south-central NY; Binghampton is the County Seat. I have no Stevens relatives in NY. However, there is a Gilbert L. STEVENS who was born in New York in March of 1821, and he is enumerated in the US Census of 1850, 1870, 1900, and 1910. The 1910 Census notes that Mercy K. is the second wife of Gilbert L. Stevens, thus your Catherine Orton of Yorkshire could have been his first wife.
