In tracing the history of the Colton family of Unadilla, Otsego County, NY, I find listed in the 1850 Census, living with the family of Edward and Lydia Colton, both age 34, and their son, Edward C., there are: Ruth SAUNDERS, 40; Adeline SAUNDERS, 9; Jacob SAUNDERS, 3, and Charles SAUNDERS, age 3/12, all born in New York.
I am wondering whether Ruth SAUNDERS might be a sister to Lydia Colton. Furthermore, I believe that Adeline SAUNDERS married, as his second wife, Edward Colton's father, Elijah Colton, on 25 May 1857 in Unadilla. If Ruth SAUNDERS is the mother of Adeline SAUNDERS, then who is Adeline's father?
Any light you can shed on these folks would be much appreciated.
