I asked Sandy to do a lookup in the 1855 Oneonta Census for my gg-grandfather Nelson Simmons who was living in Oneonta in 1850 . Unfortunately she was not able to find him , he must have already moved on as he shows up in the 1860 census in Milford . By 1865 he is married and living in Davenport , Delaware County NY . By 1870 he is living in Sidney where he spends the rest of his life , dieing on August 13 1900 . Nelson is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery .

I didn't have any luck. As you say he was listed with Nathaniel Edmunds in 1850 but I don't find him in 1855, 1865 or 1875.
In 1855 I found an Elizabeth & Harriet Simmons. Might she be any relation?
