My earliest Cary was Elonzo/Alonzo b.abt 1803 in Scotland. The 1855 State census states he was born in Scotland and is 52 yrs old and married in abt 1824 and has been a widower for one yr. Wife's name unknown. It says he has been a resident of Cherry Valley for 50 yrs. At this time he is operating a limekiln with his son Henry. I know of no other children by Elonzo. Based on ages, John Cary and Minnie Welden could well be his parents... His first name may well have been with an A?

Elonzo's son Henry was b.1824 in Otsego Cty. He mar.abt 1848 Elizabeth More/Moore b.13 Mar 1829 in Germantown, Columbia Cty,NY. She came to Cherry Valley at the age of 5. She was of Scottish descent. By 1860 Henry was farming. Henry d.12 Mar 1864 & is buried in Cherry Valley cemetery. Henry & Elizabeth would have at least 8 Children. Norman
