Four Morris Brothers Have Reunion At Home
Four brothers, whose total time in the armed forces of the United States and Canada, is more than seventeen years, met Friday of last week for the first time in over five years at the home of their mother, Mrs. Mina Benjamin, of Morris.
Two were discharged from the Army recently, one is in the Canadian army, and the other a member of the United States Coast Guard.
LeGrand C. the Coast Guardsman, a pharmacist's mate third class, was married Saturday to Miss Betty Hughes, Oneonta in the First Presbyterian church there. His tours of duty have been in the North Atlantic and the Mediterranean on a submarine chaser. He left Morris Monday and will sail for Brazil on, his next assignment.
Another of the brothers, Hobart L., has been in the famous "Black Watch" regiment of the Canadian army for over four years, was wounded in action and served three years and eleven months in England and Belgium. His wife, Mary, is also at the Benjamin home.
Discharged at Fort Dix, August 9th, Waldo C, was a sergeant in the Army and in his more than four years service was stationed in both the European and Asiatic theaters of war.
A staff sergeant and mechanic in the Air force, the fourth brother, David W. was discharged at Manchester, N.H. November 3rd after being in the Army over five years, During his service he was in every state in the nation and accumulated 2,300 fiying hours.
The father of the boys, Hobart L. Benjamin, who died in 1939, was a machinist's mate in World War I and first commander of the Morris Post of the American Legion.
