"The Pulaski Democrat" [Pulaski, Oswego Co., NY], Wednesday, 4 Aug 1909, p. 5:

DEATH OF FRANCIS COLVIN

Last Thursday, while on a visit to his sister, Mrs. John Potter, of Vernon, Francis Colvin, the eleven-year-old son of Mrs. Lucy Colvin, of this village, met death in a horrible manner. He was at the station expecting to meet his mother, and had been in the flag station with the flagman. When the car stopped Francis started to cross the track, just as the limited from Syracuse came rushing down. He had nearly succeeded in getting across when the car struck him and flung him to the south of the track. He struck a bulkhead and was picked up a moment later dead. His skull was fractured. The car was stopped and the lad was carried into a near-by building. Dr. Lewis, the coroner, after making an examination, allowed the crew to take the car on to Utica, while the body of the boy was removed to an undertaking establishment.

The body was brought to Pulaski for burial, Saturday. Mrs. William Gorton and Mrs. John Adams, sisters of the boy, went to Vernon to accompany the remains home.
