In Reply to: Elias, Nathan, Joshua and Abraham Harrington 1800 census by William Brackett of 545

I am looking at Daniel Herrington who married Sarah ?, b. abt 1802, NY, on about 1845, as they had Alice A. Herrington, b. 2 Oct 1846, Canandaigua, Ontario, NY.

Since this Daniel was born abt 1775, NY, I assume that this Sarah was not Daniel's first.
A Daniel Herrington saw service as a drummer (Private) in Greene's 7th Regiment, NY Militia, during the War of 1812. Also serving in the 7th was an Allan Herrington. Daniel and Allan were neighbors in the Census in 1800 Otsega, Osega, NY. Also listed in that Census was Ephraim Herrington.

Daniel Herrington appeared on the Chattel/Mortgage List for Ontario County, NY, for period 1830-1860.

A Daniel Herrington appeared in the 1820 Census for Jerusalem, Ontaro, NY; in the 1830 & 1840 Censuses for Canandaigua, Ontario Co., NY--all with spelling of HERRINGTON.

Finally, Daniel Herrington, 75, NY, appears in the 1850 Census for Canandaigua with wife Sarah, 48, NY, and daughter, Alice A. Herrington, 4, NY. Additionally, there was a Ellen WELTON, age 2, enumerated with Daniel and Sarah.

Daniel died on 5 Dec 1851, in Canandaiqua, and MAY BE buried in the Roseridge Cemeter, Naples, Ontario, NY. There are two unnamed infants buried nexus a Daniel Herrington at that site (Sec C-Lot 28) but sans stone markers.

Widow Sarah and daughter Alice went on to Leslie Twp, Ingham Co., MI.
Sarah married Isaac F. Huntoon on 25 Dec 1858 in Jackson City, MI.

(I suspect that Sarah and Isaac knew one another previous to the move to MI, as Isaac was enumerated in the 1840 Census for Attica Twp, Genesee Co., NY.)
Daughter Alice A. married Uriah Prine on 10 Nov 1866 in Ingham Co., MI.

Isaac Huntoon died on 15 April 1869 and the ever resourceful widow Sarah married my great grandfather John Easlick, b. 29 April 1793, NJ, on 29 Aug 1873, in Leslie Twp--about one year following the death of John's first, Margaret Hawkins, on 20 August 1872, in Leslie Twp, Ingham Co., MI.

Need more on Daniel's roots and other family connections in Ontario County.
