LEAHY - WELCH Onandaga Cty > Syracuse 1860-1861
Posted by: M. Joseph Leahy Date: February 10, 2002 at 11:08:46
  of 1914

In 1861, my 16-year-old great grandfather Patrick LEAHY emigrated to the United States from Ireland. He was accompanied by his 17-year-old cousin Ellen WELCH. Upon arrival in the US, it is known that they went to Syracuse, New York.
I am trying to locate descendants of Leahy and Welch families who resided at Syracuse during this time period. They may have gone to relatives there.
I have located several Leahy families in the First and Third Wards in the 1860 US Census. These include the families of JOHN LEAHY...MORRIS LAHEY...DENNIS LAHY...and THOMAS LEAHEY.
In addition, the family of JOHN WELCH was enumerated in Syracuse's Third Ward during the 1860 Census. If you know anything of these families, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
