John, I believe you are looking for the hospital that is now known as Hutchings Psychiatric Institute; I believe it is on Harrison Street in Syracuse, NY. Sorry but I don't have the exact address or telephone number. I was raised in Syracuse and, in fact, was just there recently for my Dad's open-heart surgery at nearby SUNY Upstate Medical Center. If you believe that the death occurred in Onondaga County, you might want to contact Tom Roux at the Byrd Library on the campus of Syracuse University; he has access to all the obituaries published in the Syracuse Herald-Journal going back many many years as well as city directories and such.

I would recommend that you post messages on as many Onondaga County boards as possible. A good one to start with is at actual address of the board is You can post a request for obit info and more than likely Tom will respond.

Hope this helps and best of luck in your search.
