Looking for a correct chronology of births for the children of Winthrop Graham and Rebecca. He was born in Rochester, Plymouth Co., MA in 1750. His mother was Elizabeth Childs.
He and his wife Rebecca moved to Ft. Anne, Washington County, NY, where he was listed as a qualified elector in 1795.
According to Harry Gilbert, a descenmdant of Winthrop, "Winthrop had 11 children
Lovina 1768 (married Benjamin Sweet), Israel 1769, Elizabeth 1770(married
John Hamilton - named after her Grandmother), Rebecca 1772 (named after her
Mother), Parnel 1774 (Lovina named one of her daughters the same), Reuben
1775, Winthrop and Bethair both 1776, Sarah 1777, Anna and Simeon both 1778
My own research into this family show substantially different birth dates for Lovina (April 7, 1783,possibly in Rehoboth, MA,)and died Jun 18, 1818 in Sodus, Wayne County, NY, Simeon (abt July 1797)died March 31, 1846, Sodus, NY. For Winthrop's wife, Rebecca, her birth date way about May 1760, and died Dec. 2, 1845, in Sodus, NY. The dates of death and age at death are listed for inscriptions at Centernary Cemetery, Sodus, NY, Wayne County Gen Web site.
Clearly Rebbeca would have been too young to be the mother of some of the youngest children with dates of birth cited by Harry Gilbert. If there was another wife, we have no information about her.
Winthrop and family moved from Washington to Cayuga County in 1800. Winthrop died in 1803 near Tully in Onondaga County. His wife Rebecca moved to Marcellus, around 1810, and Sodus after 1830.
Some descendants of Winthrop are: Winthrop B. Graham 1795-18??, Winthrop M. Graham 1819-1873, Charles S. Graham 1851-1923, John W. Graham 1876-1960, Fern I. Graham (living).
I would appreciate an assistance in establishing a correct chronology and birthdates for Winthrop Graham's children.
I am researching this Graham family in the period 1750-1850. Their daughter Lovina (1783-1818) married my maternal ancestor Benjamin J. Sweet (1776-1862. I would appreciate addirtional information on Sweet-Graham intermarriages in RI, MA, NY and OH in the period 1750-1850.
