You can write to Catholic Charities at 1654 West Onondaga Street, Syracuse, New York, 13204 - phone is (315) 424-1800. This is the old House of Providence building, probably where your father stayed. My grandfather grew up in the House of Providence in the late 1800's, but it was a different place at that time. I recently had them do a search for me (which they do free of charge) but turned up nothing. I believe there was a fire and the records I was looking for were probably destroyed. I'll bet you have much better luck. They have a file in the name of each child who lived there, and I'd bet their records about that time are probably pretty good. I'd be interested to know how you make out.
