Hello Martha
I haven't found Harriet yet, but I took the autosomal DNA test at Ancestry DNA. The good news is that I have bunches of cousin matches to the same Potter family who lived in Rhode Island. The common thread seems to be
Thomas Potter
B: About 1663 in Portsmouth, Newport, Rhode Island
D: 1728 in South Kingstown, Washington, Rhode Island
That's the good news. The bad news is that Ancestry hasn't provided chromosome matching tools so I can be sure these are legitimate matches. It does appear that at least some of the family migrated to upstate New York.

I'll let you know if I learn anything more
