I have been researching Lucretia Hannah GAYLORD (b. c1824 - d. 26 August 1844 in Otisco, Onondaga, New York) with little success. She married Dr. Elisha G. MERRIMAN on 12 October 1835 in Otisco, Onondaga, New York. Their marriage is found in the online resource: New York Marriage Notices - 1800-1855. Dr. Elisha G. MERRIMAN is noted as one of the first physicians in Otisco in Onondaga's Centennial Book. I also know that Lucretia Hannah GAYLORD Merriman is buried in West (Old Cowles) Cemetery in Otisco. I believe she and Dr. Elisha G. MERRIMAN had a son, Willis L., b. 4 February 1844 in Otisco who d. 16 October 1934 in Birmingham, Oakland, Michigan. I believe the parents of this Dr. Elisha G. MERRIMAN are Charles MERRIMAN and Rachel COWLES but he married Charlotte SMITH in Otisco in 1819. She lived until 1879 and shows up in the censuses after 1840 - conflicting with the date of Lucretia Hannah GAYLORD's marriage and death. Elisha and Charlotte did have a son, Elisha, born c1824 which could potentially be the future husband of Lucretia??
I have not been able to identify the parents of Lucretia Hannah GAYLORD nor any official documentation of her DOB. I have not been able to identify which Elisha she married in 1840. I do not know which Elisha was a Dr.
I have another relative named Elisha G. MERRIMAN who was also from Onondaga County, NY. He was a farmer in Otisco and Salina in that county as noted in the censuses. He was married to a Polly E. UNKNOWN. This Elisha is also an Elisha G. MERRIMAN - the G. standing for Granison or Grandison. I came across several references to Lucretia Hannah GAYLORD being married to Elisah 'Granson' MERRIMAN.
Can anyone help me identify Lucretia Hannah GAYLORD's parents and, in the process, sort these Elisha MERRIMANs out? I would appreciate any assistance!
