I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there
probably isn't a historian. There is no
Onondaga County Historian. If Ononadaga Town
had one he/she wouldn't be able to help you.
About 10 or 12 years ago the County forced
all town historians to turn in there files to
the county this is what you call controling
all info coming and going. If you want any
info it's best you go and research yourself
other wise you pay through the nose and end
up with no results I found this out the hard
way. Thats why most genealogist call Onondaga
County the black hole of genealogy.Good
example I paid seventy six dollars for an
estate search of my G Grandfather Leonard
Burdette Parish I sent it to the County Court
Clerk got a letter back saying they never
heard of him and they had no record of him.
How can this be when he lived in North Syracuse for over forty years. Built many
houses there and was involved heavly in law
enforcment in the days before the New York
State Police. I had to write a nasty letter
to the County Excutive to get any info. The
County Clerk wrote me a nice letter telling
how they don't do indepth genealogical
research. If I had the money I would bring a
class action law suite agianst the County for
violation of the New York State Freedom Of Information Act. Roy
