I'm searching for one of my great-grandfathers, Asa Austin Our family bible printed in 1854 gives Asa Birth year 1811, and says he was born in Marcellous, Onondaga co. New York. He fought in the Seminole War and in the Civil war 8th infantry. He's not on the Civil war rosters because he was in the Regular Army. I sent for his military muster roll and pension records. There was no mention of his parents. But he gave his place of birth in White Hall, New York. He died in 1881 in Michigan and is buried in Prestonville Cemetery in Romeo, Michigan. I found his obit. However Macomb co. Michigan could not find a record of his death certificate. The sexton at the cemetery couldn't help because they had a fire and most of the records were burned. Sound familiar? I was hoping if someone that lives in Onondaga county, could look to see if Asa Henry Austin was mentioned in a will. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to help my ill grandfather who is 87 years old. Brenda Rainey Notify Administrator about this message?
