Picket or Pickett family Skaneateles 1840 - 1860s
Posted by: Beth Bourque (ID *****8738) Date: November 06, 2003 at 13:59:39
  of 1914

Seeking information on the family of Eliakim Picket/Pickett, his son Isaac Picket/Pickett who was the youngest of Eliakim's ten children, and his grandsons Ensign W. Pickett and Franklin or Frank E. Pickett.

Isaac was married to Charity M. Valentine (or Volentine?) who appeared to have used the name Maria. She probably had a sister, Margaret.

Ensign was born in Skaneateles in 1841 and left with his wife, Rachel Rice as a young married couple for Allegan County, Michigan where they settled. His parents, Isaac and Charity/Maria, brother Frank, and other members of the family are found in Michigan in the mid 1860s and later.

Ensign and Frank were well educated, taught school, and later became successful in the Michigan business community where one enterprise still thrives today.

A much younger Eliakim Pickett is found later in Fine, NY. Is there a connection? Who were Isaac's siblings?

I'm interested in hearing any stories of the bigger picture of this family.
