Dr. Garth Sherman Rites Wednesday.

Dr. Garth A. Sherman, 84, of 445 Allen St., a Syracuse dentist, died Saturday at home.
He was a native of Taunton and lived in the area all his life. He was a graduate of the University of Buffalo Dental College. Dr. Sherman was a life member of the American Dental Association and a life member of the Syracuse Dental Society.
Dr. Sherman was a member of the Association of American Dentists. He was a 50-year member of the Liverpool Masonic Lodge, and an endowment member of the National Rifle Association of America.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Methodist Men of the church.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Beckerbriden; two daughters, Mrs. William E. Van Patten and Mrs. Harold E. Hunter of Skaneateles; five grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Florence Vertigan of Solvay.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Van Dusen Funeral Home, 136 W. Castle St. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 8 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Syracuse.
