Thanks again, Tom. Keep it coming! It's pretty clear to me now that this is the right family, and the door is swinging open wide. It was interesting to me that Melchior's widow didn't rate getting her name in her husband's obituary -- but that's the first clue I've had than Melchior didn't kidnap his kids and leave the wife in Germany. I've written Holy Trinity, but I expect the records reside with the diocese somewhere. Keep an eye out for the name "Waldt" -- Joseph's wife was Bertha Waldt. -- JoeH
