I was there in the Utica Oneida Co., NY area and visited the facility below. My ancestor died at Utica State Hospital, which was later closed & merged into Marcy State Hospital. Marcy State Hospital is now a max security prison. The state hospital (different location) is now called Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center. Their snail mail address is 1400 Noyes at York....Utica, NY 13502. tele: (315) 797-6800. Ask for the RECORDS Dept. My ancestor died at the Utica State Hospital facility in 1936 and I was told the death certificates were kept at the facility rather than at a state level. They did have a fire and alot of the records burned. I was lucky and was able to get both the records (not detailed medical records tho) and his death certificate that I was looking for by going to the "new" facility. Hope this helps. Good luck. Judi in Seattle, WA.
