John White's lost family, left Oneida County 1811

My ancestor, John White, was born in Oneida County (Whitestown or Westmoreland we think) in 1790. Upon returning home from an apprenticeship in Pittsburg in 1811 or so, he discovered that his family had moved west. Unsure of their destination, he followed the trail of the Gager Smith and Azenith Tracy Smith families to Mesopotamia, Ohio hoping his family was with their group but found no trace of them. He married Electa Smith and settled in Mesopotamia never learning what became of his large family. Does anyone have any information about that family?
