I just tried to send you an e-mail at <beardog@gte.net>, but it was returned as undeliverable. I hope you get this message.

My Dooleys were in Oneida County in the 1840s-1850s, and my ancestor John Dooley may have worked on the Erie Canal. (Actually, I just learned this myself.) He and his wife Catherine Daly had migrated to the U.S. about 1844. On the 1850 Federal census for Oneida County, John is listed as a laborer. Any connection?

Also, did you ever find a database listing the names of the laborers who worked on the Erie Canal?
