Hi Timothy,

I descend from John William Guy, born abt 1785 County Cork, Ireland. John had at least five known children (Michael, Robert, William, Mary Guy Scully and John), all of whom settled in or near the town of Verona, Oneida Co., NY. They were recruited by Thomas Ennis to work on the Erie Canal, coming over between 1816 and 1825.

I have about 70 individuals with the surname "Guy" in my database, three Margaret's (all resided Oneida or Madison County).

Margaret Rontree b. 1836/37 m. Theodore Guy; Margaret (Meg) Guy b. abt 1854 m. 1st George Mangold, m. 2nd _____ Mattison; Margaretta Guy b. 1827/28, the d/o John and Ellen McGann Guy, married?

There was also a James Guy born 1784/85 England who settled with his family in Eaton, Madison Co., NY. I know the names of his children but little else about his descendants.

Was Guy the married or maiden name of your Margaret? Do you know who she married? Do you know her birth date or approximate age at death (and when died)?

Give me a little more history and I will see if I can connect her.

Bud
