Hi !
George was my gggrandfather. We know nothing about his ancestors. He was born about 1828 in Paris, Oneida County, New York so the Family claims and was of the same lineage as the Statesman, William Maxwell Evarts. What we do know for sure is that he was married to Martha M. Bascom in the County of Shiawassee, Michigan. They had two children Asahel, who immigrated to Alberta, and Art. He enlisted in the Union Army in 1861 and died of a fever in Keokuk, Iowa in 1862. Martha died shortly after in 1864. The 2 boys lived with Asahel Bascom after that. We know a lot about George and his Civil War dealings and even have a physical description of him but nothing re. his Parents. We would sure like to know who George's Ancestors were.
Bye for now and thank you ooddles. Doris Overbo, Alberta, Canada.
