Are there any descendants of Rev War veteran George Robinson still living in Florence, Oneida Co., NY? Please contact me.

Revolutionary War pension records of Private 4 George Robinson, Pownal Vermont. Enlisted 1776 for six months under Captain Josiah Smith in Colonel Whitney's Regiment of Massachusetts. Enlisted for three years service, mid February 1782 under Captain Nehemiah Emmerson, commanding in the 10th Massachusetts' Regiment commanded by Col Benjamin Tupper. He served until the first of January 1784 when he was honorably discharged at West Point, by Maj Gen Knox.

Pensioned Oct 18, 1819 under act of March 18, 1818 (#16707) while residing at Bennington, Vermont. His wife Mary had gone to live with her son, at Florence, Oneida County, New York, since George, Sr., was unable to care for her. George died March 1826 and his wife, Mary, continued receiving his pension until her death.

See letter of Mrs. Helen R. Walker (Robinson), Caledonia, Livingston Co., New York, April 4, 1908, to Affairs of Pension Office. Also see Revolutionary War Section, Acting Commissioner's response to Mr. Raymond E. Van Syckle, 1739 Ford Building, Detroit, Michigan, Jan 3, 1932, for birth date and place of George Robinson, Sr. from family bible records submitted for George's pension.

Also see records of Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) 1922.

See "Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors," Page 442: "Robinson, George. Private, Capt Josiah Smith's co., Col Josiah Whitney's regt.; enlisted May 25, 1776, 4 days preceding march; discharged Sept. 1, 1776; service 3 mos, 6 days; company raised for defence of town and harbor of Boston."
