BUTTON, NUTT, TRIPP in Floyd or Marcy

Hoping some kind soul might be able to help. I am researching my BUTTON ancestors, particularly Riley Button. He is listed living in Floyd in 1830 federal census, Floyd in 1835 state census, and Marcy in 1840 federal census. His sons, Alexander (age 22) is listed in Floyd in 1850 federal census and Ezra (age 11) is listed in Rome in 1850. Cannot find Riley or his other son, Mayhew listed anywhere although I find Mayhew in 1860 in Wisconsin. Through diaries of Alexander, I believe that there might be some relationship to NUTTs and TRIPPs through possible marriages of his sisters. Does anyone know anything about these families or give me some new ideas for searching Oneida Co. as I live in Chicago.
