Seeking help to resolve query regarding 2 men who lived in Sangerfield/Waterville NY area from 1851-1886: Are they brothers? James NOLAN (born 1828 in Ireland-died 20 Sep 1912 in No. Adams, MA) & Peter NOLAN (born 1820 in Ireland-died 17 Apr 1889 in Waterville NY). I have much info to suggest they are, but death certificates give different parents: Peter’s parents given as Miles NOLAN and Bridget NOLAN. James’ given as Peter NOLAN and Anne MANNING. Peter was married to Alice [?] in Ireland and James married Ann [?] in USA. Have ship record info that suggests Peter, Alice, and James emigrated together from Co. Monaghan, arriving in NY on 18 Aug 1849. Alice had her first child, also named James, while on the ship. Reportedly Peter & Alice lived first in Boston, MA but by 1851 all three were in Waterville NY area. Both men raised their families there. James’ gravestone states he was a “native of Parish Maraclone, Co(unty) Monaghan, Ireland”. Any help greatly appreciated.
