Thank you Howard for this information below:
I have visited in the Rome Cemetery on Jervis Street in Rome, New York. Here is the information recorded on their headstones:
John Willcox, born Stonington, Connecticut, May 17, 1789 and Died 21 December 1861.
married to Sarah Williams, born Mystic, Connecticut, January 4, 1790 and died August 16, 1863.
John H. Wilcox, born may 9, 1815 and died February 12, 1869 married to Rosalinda Babcock, born January 7, 1815 and died 1891(date of interment is April 28, 1891)
Also, it may be that the dates on the headstones are dates of interment rather than dates of death. The above graves are in the same grave site.
The census of 1850 lists John (age 64) and Sarah (age 63). Based on the inscriptions on their head stones, they should have been 61 and 60 respectively. The same census shows children Phoebe (25), Stephen (24), William (22), and Laura (?) (21), but no John.
