From 1874 map of the village of Trenton [aka Barneveld], Oneida Co., New York, thanks to Jim Moore:
Under business notices:
'Hughes, J., Carriage, Sign, and Ornamental Painter. Residence, Boon St."
The map shows his residence to be on the North side of Boon Street, opposite the intersection of Boon Street and Vanderkemp Avenue.
Their home, "Mappa Hall" is on Mappa Avenue. The Congregational Church building on Mappa Avenue is now an Episcopal Church named St. David's, the patron saint of the Welsh.
My note: John HUGHES who is listed a J. HUGHES above was my maternal 2 great grandfather; he married Susan [Emma] JONES and had children from 1860 to 1874 in South Trenton, Oneida Co., NY:
Edwin, Frank R., George, Charles S. and Jennie.
I have their spouses' names, etc.
Hope you are a newly found cousin,
