Thanks Cynthia for replying. I did do this in Albany. My ancestor died in 1882 and Albany does not have him. All counties was supposed to start recording deaths in 1880 but no body really started it until mid 1880's. So I called the Vital Registrar in Utica before mailing in a form and money to them and they said they didn't keep records until 1886. Since posting the 1st message, I called the Town Clerk in Floyd and was told death certificates started in 1887 due to a fire in 1930 at the town hall. I guess I'm just out of luck. Any other suggestions??? Renee Notify Administrator about this message?
