In the book "Our County and its People", 'a descriptive work on Oneida County', published by the Boston History Company in 1896, p.494, a LEVI Sherman is mentioned as having been elected constable at a town meeting (Paris is the town)in 1793. The name Sherman appears often in the histories of Oneida County. I found this book at the Sons of the Revolution Library in Glendale, CA.
Good luck...
