My grandmother, Ida Fox Steinberg is Carrie Fox Hanan's sister. They also had 2 brothers: Johnnie and Louis Harkelroad. They were taken to live with their uncle Bud Harkleroad (Memphis) when their mother died in the fire.

Carrie Fox, the daughter of John Fox and Ellan Harkleroad, left Memphis 1913 with Isaac Hanan and moved to Champagne, Illinois. She had two sons!
Before moving to New York, Carrie and Isaac used to bring the boys to Memphis visiting her sister, Ida, and the boys would play with their cousins, (my dad and his many brothers) and youngest sister, Gladys, who remembers them and wonders to this day why they stopped visiting. Apparently they came every year.
Ida mourned to never see her sister again. She died in 1949. I understand that Carrie Fox Hanan may have died in the early 2000's. How sad we were not able to know her. She would have been my Grand-Aunt.
We have not been able to contact her Granddaughter, Carolyn Hanan. Her emails come back undeliverable from this site! There is no current email address.
However, the puzzle has been solved to a great extent! I can be reached through this site!
