Basia, the village of Floral Park, Long Island, is located in westernmost Nassau County, right on the border with New York City's Borough of Queens. A large number of Polish immigrants settled in the Floral Park area around the turn of the last century. St. Hedwig's Church was founded in Floral Park around 1900 to serve the local Polish community and is still a very active Polish parish today. Here's their link:

Out of curiosity, what were the names of Adam Brzuchalski's parents? When did they come to America? Where in Poland were they from? I see that the family returned to Europe just in time for World War I! I'm sure they didn't foresee anything like that, or they probably would have stayed on Long Island!
