We are attempting to trace our ancestry
from Germany. My great-grandfather entered
the United States through the port of New York in 1828. He, John Jacod Decker, along
with two other brothers, initially settled in
New York and my great-grandfather worked as
a lumberjack in forests, I believe, owned by the government. He then left New York and headed for Texas in 1838 and settled in Davis
Landing, Texas now called Rio Grande City, Tx. He married and had seven children, the last being my grandfather, Louis Decker. We have no idea what happened to his other two brothers. If you have any information, we would appreciate it. Thank you.
